Showing Up

"Half the battle is getting started."

I've heard that saying and I know staring at a blank page ready to receive some thoughts - it's always true.

I am getting ready for our next season of wrestling, and school year at University of the Ozarks. I have been working through my notes from last season, organizing my thoughts, and gaming refinements for next season. My assistant and I will work through the same process.

What are the big blocks that will continue to help us move forward and help these student-athletes become their best?

It is simple, but not easy.

Show up.

I realized it all starts from that action. Notice I didn't take about motivation or vision or planning. Those will come but after.

Walk through the door. Class. Practice. Studying. Eating right. Show up. For whatever it is that you're chasing, show up for your own dream.

Doesn't matter how you feel. Doesn't matter what someone else thinks. Doesn't matter where you came from. Doesn't matter what happened last year or ten years ago. Doesn't matter the voice in the back of your head that says you're not good enough. The person back home who doubts you'll make it.

Once you've started the momentum and habit of showing up, now the path gets clearer of what, where and who is also on that path with you.

If you don't show up for your own vision, who will?
